Asset management is the maintaining of a business’ assets, including financial investments, property, and anything owned by the company. Usually overseen by an investment bank or a specifically hired individual, an asset manager takes on the responsibility of overseeing a client’s assets and investments, while assessing and mitigating risk.
As there is often an investment minimum, this means that asset managers are usually utilised by larger companies, government entities, financial intermediaries, or high net-worth individuals.
